It shall be an unlawful discriminatory practice to do any of the following acts, wholly or partially for a discriminatory reason based upon the actual or perceived: race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, family responsibilities, genetic information, disability, matriculation, or political affiliation of any individual. Federal regulations require that civil rights complaints be reported to the Food Nutrition Service (FNS). FNS Civil Rights Division is responsible for conducting investigations of discrimination complaints based on race, color, national origin, age, sex and/or disability involving the school meals programs in DC. Mundo Verde Bilingual PCS must advise the person of his/her right to file a program discrimination complaint directly at the federal level and may not investigate nor come to a resolution without FNS support. If the person files a verbal or written complaint with Mundo Verde Bilingual PCS, it must be forwarded to the FNS Civil Rights Division. A copy of the civil rights complaint must be forwarded to the Office of the State Superintendent of Education Civil Rights Complaint Coordinator within 3 calendar days of initial report. Complaints must be forwarded to Suzanne Henley at suzanne.henley@dc.gov.
