Student Services
Mundo Verde implements a co-teaching model. This model features one special education teacher and one general education teacher, jointly shouldering instructional responsibilities and accountability for all students within the classroom. This approach fosters an inclusive and collaborative classroom environment, dedicated to student achievement and social-emotional growth.
Four key strategies within this inclusive framework:
Station Teaching
This strategy divides instructional content into two or more stations, each catering to a diverse group of students. It allows students to rotate between stations, catering to their various learning styles and reinforcing their understanding of the material.
One Teacher, One Assist
In this strategy, one teacher assumes primary instructional responsibility, while the other supports students who may be hesitant to participate or need extra support. This setting creates an inclusive and collaborative classroom environment focused on student achievement and social-emotional growth.
Resource Room
This strategy is aimed for students requiring supplementary specialized instruction to address foundational skills, students may engage in targeted goal-oriented activities outlined in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). This takes place in either an individual or small group setting, facilitated by a Special Education teacher and a Fellow teacher.
Self-contained Room
In this strategy, students with specialized needs receive tailored instruction in a small group setting led by a dedicated special education teacher. With no more than 10 students and additional staff, this environment fosters enhanced one-to-one support, facilitated by Dedicated Aides, a behavior technician, and comprehensive assistance from Related Service Providers both inside and outside the classroom.
As a Local Educational Agency (LEA), Mundo Verde has a legal obligation and an ethical responsibility to ensure children receive early and adequate intervention, services, and supports to receive a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) and to comply with the Child Find mandate of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
