Welcoming Our New Executive Director
Welcoming Our New Executive Director
Mundo Verde is entering an exciting new chapter under the leadership of Shalini Shybut, our new Executive Director. With deep expertise in bilingual education and a strong commitment to equity, Shalini is ready to lead our school toward continued excellence.
As we welcome Shalini, we also recognize the leadership that has guided Mundo Verde over the years. Kristin Scotchmer, our founding Executive Director, played a pivotal role in establishing our school, and Rich Pohlman provided steady guidance as Interim Executive Director while we conducted a thorough search for a permanent leader. We appreciate their dedication in shaping Mundo Verde’s foundation and ensuring a smooth transition.
Please join us in welcoming Shalini as she embarks on this journey with our community. To learn more about Shalini’s appointment, read the official press release here.

Priorities for the Rest of the School Year
Change takes time, and key priorities will guide our progress:
Talent – Retain and support our incredible staff while bringing in strong leadership at the Chief and Board levels. We have launched hiring for a Chief Academic Officer and Chief of People and Culture Officer to strengthen our academic programs and workplace culture.
Assess & Plan – Engage staff, families, and students in evaluating our current state to shape a focused vision for the next 3–5 years, starting with SY25-26.
Stay on Track – Maintain stable operations and push for student achievement while navigating external challenges, including recent executive orders.
Build Trust – Strengthen connections with staff, families, and the board through open and authentic engagement.
She looks forward to working together to build a stronger future for Mundo Verde!
