As our founding Executive Director, Kristin, transitions from her role to assume new and ongoing responsibilities to support the long-term success of the school, the Mundo Verde board has initiated a national search for the school's next Executive Director.
Letter from Kristin Scotchmer
Dear Mundo Verde Community,
As you may know, starting in December 2023, I have been working with the board to ensure a smooth implementation of changes announced then – changes of great importance for our staff and family community. After 13 years, it is time for the school to strategically examine its leadership, structure, and governance and for me to transition from serving as Mundo Verde’s founding Executive Director.
Setting the school on this pathway is my focus – Continuing to ensure that what we have started carries forward until the next Executive Director is identified and on-boarded – even as my future role with Mundo Verde evolves. Working together with the board, we are preparing the organization for its next Executive Director, continuing to deepen and transform how the school functions, improving our capacity to effectively address current needs, risks, and opportunities while fully delivering on our mission.
As we navigate the rest of our school year 23-24, I hope many of you will help us address the challenges and embrace the opportunities in this transitional period for the school. I know that by working together we can make Mundo Verde’s upcoming years even more incredible than its first 13!

Search Committee
The Mundo Verde Board has assembled a search committee, including parents, caregivers and staff from both campuses, the network office, the DCACTS union, and the Mundo Verde board. The committee is led by Board Member John Mahaffie.
