Washington, D.C. — The Board of Directors of Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School is proud to announce the appointment of Shalini Shybut as the school’s next Executive Director, effective Monday, February 3, 2025. Shalini’s selection follows a comprehensive search process involving a Search Committee composed of staff and parents/caregivers, who provided invaluable input and guidance.

Shalini Shybut brings extensive experience and a deep connection to Mundo Verde, having served in various capacities within the school community—including as a parent of three current students. Her journey with Mundo Verde began as a dedicated supporter, advisor, and coach, and her commitment to the school’s mission inspired her to pursue this leadership role.

Shalini began her career as a teacher in a bilingual fifth-grade classroom in New York, serving students with diverse needs. Over the past 15 years, she has dedicated herself to advancing educational excellence in Washington, D.C. Most recently, as Mundo Verde’s Interim Chief of Staff since October, she has implemented significant improvements, including:

• Enhancing responsiveness to staff and parent/caregiver communities.

• Supporting network and campus leadership teams to collaborate more effectively in service of students.

• Partnering with union leaders and principals to implement consistent teacher evaluations.

Staff feedback on Shalini’s leadership has been overwhelmingly positive, reflecting her understanding of Mundo Verde’s mission and values, as well as her forward-looking vision for the school’s continued growth and success.

The Board extends its gratitude to the Search Committee, Interim Executive Director Richard Pohlman, and consulting partner Simmons Covington for their dedicated work throughout the selection process. Their efforts were instrumental in ensuring a thoughtful and inclusive process.
