A Community Generally Engaged and Satisfied!

Responding to monthly “pulse” surveys in September and October, parents and caregivers were consistently clear that, overall, they are “happy” with Mundo Verde. As indicated below, in September, 62% of respondents characterized themselves as “happy” and 61% did so again in October. In September 244 people responded to the survey, and in October 187 did so. The graphic below shows comparable data from September and October of last year.

Whether asked about overall sentiment, expectations, or familiarity with the school’s approach to bilingual learning, respondents’ comments indicate a consistent focus on the core aspects of teaching and learning: the curriculum and the teachers. This focus on academic issues as most resonant holds true across ethnic, academy and campus cohorts (with the exception of security concerns in the J.F. Cook campus neighborhood).

In addition to gaining an understanding of which topics are most resonant for respondents, we also learn in more detail about overall satisfaction by assessing whether comments are positive, negative or more neutral in describing an unmet need. Between the two surveys, respondents identifying a specific unmet need dropped significantly and across all topical areas.

Sizable majorities of respondents on both campuses also indicate that they are either “very” or “somewhat” familiar with “Mundo Verde’s approach to bilingual learning and how it connects to the school’s overall mission”. Overall, 85% of respondents consider themselves familiar compared to 15% who characterize themselves as either “unfamiliar” or “very unfamiliar.”
