Student portraits are now online for viewing and ordering! You should have received an email form Freed Photography with your child's private gallery information. You will be able to choose from many wonderful photos. If your have not received this (check your spam too), please contact them at support@freedphoto.com or call 301-652-5452.
If your children missed Picture Day, retakes are scheduled for this week, Tuesday, November 22 on both campuses.

Individual Photo - As part of having student profiles updated in our Student Information System (SIS), ALL students will get their individual photos taken regardless of their Media Release authorization.

To contact your child/ren’s teacher or staff members with questions regarding our school services, academics, invoicing, and others, we encourage you to send them direct messages through the “Messages” tool in ParentSquare. For your convenience, the staff directory includes names and titles to help you identify who you need to contact.

The Holiday season is upon us and the caregiver organizations at J.F. Cook and Calle Ocho are pleased to announce the kick-off of the annual cross-campus Teacher and Staff Appreciation Collection! At Mundo Verde, contributions to the Collection are centralized and then distributed to staff so that all members of the community feel appreciated - from teachers to front desk staff, from the kitchen team to the extended day team, and everyone in between!
We aim to make this year’s collection even more equitable and inclusive:

We are excited to move forward with the purchase and development of the property at 817 Varnum Street NE, as a part of the Mundo Verde board’s approval of the school’s three-part comprehensive schoolwide facilities financing plan. Under the preferred development plan for this Calle Ocho adjacent property, the campus will have eight more classrooms, two acres of outdoor space, and the capacity to cook meals on-site. Teachers, Principals, and Leadership Communications Are Sent Via ParentSquare
It is essential that parents and caregivers have their ParentSquare account active to be up to date on their child's school life, and to receive and send messages to their child’s teacher.
Starting on Monday, November 28, all communications from teachers, principals, and school leadership will be posted/sent exclusively through ParentSquare. We will no longer send additional text messages.
Only one week left to activate your ParentSquare account! If you have not activated your account yet, you should have received a reminder email from ParentSquare on November 19 to do so. Click on the link provided to activate your account, and enjoy communicating with our school community!
J.F. Cook Campus
The compost drop off program is now open, and Mundo Verde families and staff can drop off food waste to be composted! Bring your food scraps during the Garden Market every Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm. This is currently only available at J.F. Cook campus. We will introduce this compost program at Calle Ocho this winter.

HEALTH & SAFETY
As we begin to experience fluctuating temperatures, please prepare your children with the appropriate gear - especially for days when there is a chill in the air. We go outside when it is cold! We recommend a jacket and head covering, and appropriate protection for hands, feet and head. When there is inclement weather we may at times opt for indoor recess. If you need any assistance providing these items for your family, please contact the front desk of your campus.

Neighborhood Safety Petition
The Padres Neighborhood Safety Committee is working hard to make the neighborhood a safer space. If you see something, please say something by filling out this anonymous form. The Committee would like to request you sign a petition to demand safer routes to school by supporting the strong standards language at the link below. You can find a sample template here.
Vive Viernes - Save the Date!
The Padres next Friday school social ‘Vive Viernes’ will be Friday, Dec 9. The location is still TBD.
