ACADEMICS

Academic Reports for Trimester 1

On October 28 and 29, Academic Reports were sent to all families. Reports for Kinder-5th grade students were sent via ParentSquare (email / text message). If you have not activated your account, please take a moment to do so (using the email with instructions sent to you). GOLD Reports for PreK students are different. These reports were sent vía email from info@mundoverdepcs.org.

If you did not receive your child’s report, please contact platforms@mundoverdepcs.org.

Questions about your child's performance? Please contact your teacher.

This Week! Parent Teacher Conferences
November 9 and 10

Teachers are sending out Parent Teacher Conference sign ups. If you have not received it yet, please contact your child’s teacher using ParentSquare.

Mark your calendar:

  • Nov 9: Parent Teacher Conferences in the afternoon / Regular School Day

  • Nov 10: Parent Teacher Conferences all day, NO SCHOOL

In addition to testing and other assessments, parent-teacher conferences are an important way for families to hear from and discuss with teachers the strengths and weaknesses they are observing in their children – across both social-emotional and academic indicators. Especially for young learners, the development of baseline social-emotional skills are critical building blocks for academic learning. Parents/caregivers should have received student progress reports last week, and these can be discussed with their child’s teacher during their conference. Discussing student progress reports help develop strong partnerships with caregivers so that whenever possible learning at home and learning at school are aligned and supportive. Students are generally not present during these conferences.

EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

Board Meeting
Nov 17, 6:30-8:30pm

The Mundo Verde Board of Directors will be holding a regular Board Meeting on Thursday, November 17. All regular and special board meetings are open to the public, providing the opportunity for stakeholders to observe board operations. The meeting will take place virtually from 6:30 to 8:30pm.

For questions related to the meeting, email board@mundoverdepcs.org.

COMMUNICATIONS, INFORMATION & QUESTIONS

Receive All School Communications Via ParentSquare
Starting November 28 Exclusively on ParentSquare

On a weekly basis, teachers have been posting class updates for parents and caregivers to learn what students are doing in class. School-wide announcements and events, family updates, incident reports, and staffing announcement have also been posted on ParentSquare.

It is very important that you, as a parent and caregiver, have your ParentSquare account active to check it regularly, so you can stay on top of your child's school life.

Up until now, the communications team has sent supplemental text messages to all families (with active or inactive ParentSquare accounts) to ensure every family receives all the communications from the school.

Beginning Monday, November 28, all school communications will be posted/sent exclusively through ParentSquare.

Haven't Activated Your ParentSquare Account Yet?
Those parents and caregivers who haven't activated their ParentSquare account yet should have received on Tuesday, November 1st, an email with the link to activate it.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Attention Drivers and Pedestrians!

As community members, we must show respect to our neighbors and observe signage. Community members have reported unsafe driving during arrival and dismissal. To keep our children safe as they walk across the street to enter school, please remember the following:

  • Pedestrians must use crosswalks at all times

  • Drivers should focus on the new traffic pattern and persons crossing the streets

  • Parking is NOT allowed on private property

  • No parking in the alleys

  • No 3-point turns in the middle of the street

  • Please be free of distractions such as cell phones

  • Please be courteous to Mundo Verde staff assisting with the traffic flow and others by using your turn signal prior to making a turn.

Calle Ocho Campus Only

  • No parking in staff parking spots. Please use both parking lots on 8th Street NE and Varnum Street (beside and behind the Biomedical building). See attached image.

SCHOOL SERVICES

School Lunch - Ocassional Charges

We want to remind families about this year’s fee for school lunch. During the last two years, school meals were free for every student due to the pandemic.

Lunch fees are as follows:

  • Calle Ocho Campus: $4.50

  • J.F. Cook Campus: $4.85

  • FARM Families: Free

In the case of students requesting lunch, the school policy is to provide them with a school lunch (with a fee associated). The school will never refuse a student who requests a meal.

Any student receiving a lunch is recorded in our system (Infinite Campus), and there will be a charge on their account for that specific day regardless of actively being enrolled or not in the school meals program.

If you have any questions about your school meal balances, please reach out to Jack Leng, Senior Food Manager, to clarify it at meals@mundoverdepcs.org

Learn How to Pay for Snacks, Lunch, and Extended Day Program

Please see the images below to learn how to pay for each service.

SNACKS PAID THROUGH FEES:

Daily snacks should be paid through the portal's FEES. FARM families are exempt from this payment.

LUNCH PAID BY ADDING MONEY TO FOOD SERVICE:

School lunch should be paid by adding money to FOOD SERVICE. Click here for instructions (English / Spanish) on how to add money to your account.

EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM PAID THROUGH THE SCHOOL STORE:

Extended Day program should be paid through the SCHOOL STORE. Click here for instructions (English / Spanish) on how to add the monthly school service to your cart.

School Services Payments Due on the 10th of Every Month
