MESSAGE
From Kristin Scotchmer
Celebrating the diversity of our school community, and knowing that many other factors impact parents/caregivers' capacity to engage; every school year Mundo Verde strives to offer multiple ways to engage and participate. Volunteer parents and caregivers are crucial collaborators in creating and maintaining a school community welcoming, diverse and inclusive of all.
Spring is a time of many emotions in schools. On one hand we all remain focused on finishing this year strong and are sad to say farewell to some friends. On the other hand, we all are filled with excitement, the promise of new beginnings and opportunities, and are hard at work envisioning and imagining the next school year. As you go through this process at home, consider the many ways you could be engaged in the greater school community for the coming school year.
Serving our school community as a classroom liaison in your class (For Calle Ocho email Lindsey Elman (lindsey.elman@gmail.com) and for JF Cook email Emily Adeleke (emilyreinhart@gmail.com)
Volunteering your time serving in any capacity in Comunidad or Padres or Affinity Groups
Serving as a parent/guardian trustee in the Mundo Verde Board of Directors (Find here the description of the role in ENG and SPA, and the application form)
In the spirit of being Crew, not passengers, I encourage every family that can to consider one of these wonderful opportunities!
In Community,
Kristin Scotchmer

Principal Jenn had a good conversation with a few parents and caregivers last week over her Coffee with the Principal. Principal Jenn focused on answering questions about differentiation and supporting students at home. We understand it could be difficult for parents and caregivers to participate in school activities. We took notes so you can learn more from this session.
Providence Reimagined wants to hear from the Calle Ocho Community
After a long deliberative process, Calle Ocho Campus neighbor Providence Hospital has made the decision to redevelop their site. They are excited to get started engaging with the community to reimagine the Providence Hospital campus in a way that provides much needed community benefits and open space to the entire neighborhood. The planners are particularly interested in hearing from Mundo Verde Calle Ocho families/caregivers. They are gathering input through a series of conversations during May and June, both in person and virtual, and at various times, so that they might hear from as many folks as possible.
The concept for redevelopment is still in its infancy and will be developed with further input from immediate neighbors and District leaders beginning this month and continuing through the summer. A joint venture between EYA and the Menkiti Group, has been selected by Providence Hospital to lead the redevelopment of the site. They have launched ProvidenceReimagined.com where interested residents can register for updates and find the schedule of upcoming community meetings.
SCHOOL SERVICES
May 16, 8:45am - Picnic Tables
Calle Ocho parents and caregivers are invited to join Jack Leng, Senior Food Manager, on Tuesday, May 16, 8:45am at the picnic tables to engage in a conversation regarding school meals served at Calle Ocho and what the future looks like.
And get ready for next school year!
Getting uniforms right before the school year starts is always a hassle.
This year, parents and caregivers are encouraged to consider placing uniform orders today from the school store. Orders will be accepted until June 30 to help ease the demand throughout the summer.
