EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

NEW! Black History Month

During Black History Month, crew lessons and school assemblies focus on a deeper understanding of the contributions of how US and Latino history have been shaped by the contribution of Black people. Past events included a Black Lives Matter Panel, double dutch workshops, and crew lessons focused on ending discrimination and racism.

See details for Calle Ocho campus below.

Calle Ocho Campus - Show and Tell
Calle Ocho Campus invites students to bring in an item or picture that represents a Black inventor, creative, or health professional and to share it with their classmates.  Classroom teachers will schedule days for children to share. There are a few ways you can help your child prepare.

  • Identify a person Review the lists of leaders in health and wellness, business owners, and musicians below. Visit the National Museum of African American History and Culture’s website and DC Library’s website for lots of other resources.

  • Keep it simple Help your child come up with no more than 3 things they’ll share about the person.

SCHOOL SERVICES

NEW! 2023 Summer Program

We are excited to share that we are planning a three week long Summer Program in Spanish, for students from both campuses, at J.F. Cook Campus only. The program is scheduled to run from July 10-28. The interest form for the summer program will be available from January 29 through April 1. The goal of the 2023 Summer Program is to engage students in hands-on, enrichment learning in the Spanish language. The program will be staffed by many of our teachers and extended day associates, so your children will have a familiar face. We expect to have enough spots for everyone interested. Please know no partial program participation will be offered. Stay tuned for more information!

**OJO** Overdue School Services Payments

After the 10th of each month, payments for School Services such as school meals, snacks and extended day, are overdue. Please submit your payment today via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
